Three Things to Watch This Week - Week 3 2026

The New England Patriots play Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars at EverBank Stadium (♩ ♪ If EverBank could ever be this real forever... If EverBank could ever be this good again ♩ ♪) on Sunday September 27th at 1:00 PM.

However fast you think TreVeyon Henderson is, he's faster.

So... where are we after two weeks? Admittedly it's a small sample size. Looks like a solid defense and a, oh let's be generous and call it a *ahem* questionable offense so far.

Self scouting - how were my "Three Things" picks from last week? Significantly better! I'll give myself a B+.

Back to the Future Part II Power Rankings (for actors other than Christopher Lloyd and Michael J. Fox):

1) Elisabeth Shue. She should be in more things.

2) Tom Wilson. (Dude is legit hilarious in these movies.)

3) Lea Thompson.

4) Holy crap, is that Billy Zane?

5) Holy crap, is that Elijah Wood?

Bonus item: Wesley Mann ("I think he took his wallet!")


Three Things I'm Irrationally Excited About Way Too Early into the Season.

1) Gabriel Jacas, LB - Is he the second coming of Lawrence Taylor? (Or even Laurence Leboeuf?) Too soon to say. But... the guy looked like he was in on almost every play last week.

2) Christian Barmore, DT - Is he back for real this time? That would be nice.

3) Elijah Ponder, LB - Second year linebacker seeing more playing time. He had the scoop and score touchdown against the Steelers in the fourth quarter. I like it.

Honorably mention to Romeo Doubs, who looked much better in week 2.

My prediction: Pats 31, Jaguars 21

(This is the week the offense breaks out. I'm predicting it now.)

This week we have a visit from Fake Werner Herzog.

Aaron Rodgers returns to the battlefield for another season, seeking to relive past glories and playoff campaigns, only to find the hostility of a linebacking corps dead set on devouring his unvaccinated flesh.

This madness should not be allowed to continue. And it yet does. Mike McCarthy stands idly by, bereft of answers, staring at his playsheet like a confused oversized child trying to figure out the maze on a Denny's menu. The dead inside look on his face haunts me.

Unlike the 2026 Steelers... Time is undefeated.

The New England Patriots play The Ben and the Pittsburgh Steelers at Heinz Field on Sunday December 16th at 4:25 PM. Plenty of positive takeaways from last week... well, until the last play (Gronk didn’t want to get in the way of a 69 yard touchdown). Five Things to Watch This Week - Week 14

The Patriots play their thirteenth regular season game at home (!) against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday December 13th at 1:00 PM at Gillette Stadium. Oh man...  I picked a hell of a year to start a Patriots blog... I feel like I'm chronicling the Fall of the Roman Empire. The offense looks stale.  The defense went from "young and fast" to "inexperienced". And a big part of the problem is... (gulp)... Brady.  He looks too predictable out there at times.  Welker is making him better at this point. Here's what I think is going on:   - Some of the creativity is gone from the offense.  Bill O'Brien is no Josh McDaniels   - Nobody is stepping up after Welker and Moss.  Sam Aiken is nice special teamer / 4th or 5th receiver, but they could actually use a Gaffney or a Stallworth.   - Brady has got a baby on the way (UPDATE - he just had a boy).  Don't laugh.  He looked like crap last time he had a kid coming.  (To...

Five Things to Watch This Week.

I still wake up thinking about how close we were to 19 and 0. I don't think I'll ever get over that. Here's five things I'll be watching for on Thursday: 1) Tom Brady.
